IT is a critical technology for all armed forces today, including Germany’s 182,000 active soldiers. The European IT industry is closely tied to global vendors: software largely comes from the United States, while much of the hardware is produced in Asia. In this context, digital sovereignty is not just a technological issue, but also a strategic, political, and economic one. Ultimately, it can determine the success or failure of military operations.
