Enno Rey

Founder of ERNW Research GmbH, ERNW GmbH & TROOPERS conference

In 2001 Enno founded one of the longest-standing independent and coolest security companies in Germany (ERNW), in 2008 he started an important educational platform (TROOPERS), and in 2019 he moved to California to lead Apple's IPv6 program.

A builder by heart, he has worked on both defense and offense, considering the latter not only as an intellectual challenge but more importantly as part of a quality assurance cycle. He is looking forward to join the crowd at MCTTP.

From InfoSec to building products, and back.

Description

In this talk I will present some observations from moving between different parts & sides of the global security sphere. From there I'll discuss conclusions for security researchers & practitioners, and how to organize security work in order to get relevant results (read: to really make the world a safer place).

This might eventually lead to reflections on the most important question: which goals are worth pursuing when you work in security?

Why the commitee chose this talk

Enno Rey (Founder ERNW & Troopers) is one of the few who has consistently shaped it - technically, strategically, and globally.
Technically sharp, ethically grounded, and uncompromisingly real.
Enno Rey has combined technical excellence, strategic vision, and genuine integrity for decades. As the founder of ERNW and the TROOPERS conference, he has shaped the international security community. He is a builder with deep expertise in both offensive and defensive security, viewing security as a means to improve systems—not just to challenge them.
His calm, responsible approach and his commitment to knowledge sharing and community make him exactly the kind of voice we want on our stage.
