Talk about your crisis – why communication is crucial, when you are a victim of a cyberattack

DESCRIPTION

When a company has fallen victim to a targeted cyberattack, even the best work structures often become chaos. Between IT-forensics, restoring operations and notifications to authorities, one aspect often falls short: communication. In a crisis, a company has to communicate with various stakeholders, e.g. customers, suppliers, business partners, employees or media representatives. Although often neglected, good communication is crucial. There is a relevant risk that customers turn away from the company, business partners file claims and staff spreads false rumours that reach the press and make the situation even worse. As an expert for crisis management and communication, Janka knows the most common communicative challenges of cyberattacks and how to master them. People say that you always emerge stronger from a crisis. But sometimes, the goal is just to survive the crisis – and good communication makes that more likely.

WHY THE COMMITTEE CHOSE THIS TALK

Good communication is not only necessary for the victim but also the partner and customers. While we worked with different companies in crisis situations we saw a lot of different way tackling the communication, some of them brought more harm than the crisis itself. Janka is a renowned expert and we look forward to her insights into this topic.
